How to be Insulting to Artists
Mark Twain was visiting James Whistler's studio one day when he noticed one large canvas that caught his attention because of the texture of the paint. As he moved his hand over the surface to feel this, Whistler let out a howl of indignation, saying:
'Don't touch that. Can't you see, it isn't dry yet?' 'I don't mind,' said Mark Twain. 'I have gloves on.' |
