How to be Insulting at Ceremonies

When Alfred Lord Tennyson was awarded an honorary degree he attended the ceremony at the degree hall in Oxford, dressed in the robes of his new honour. As he entered the packed hall, with his long dishevelled hair, a voice from the gallery shouted down:

'What's the matter, dearie. Did your mother wake you early?'
