How to be Insulting about Tourist Sites
On his next visit to Paris after the Eiffel Tower had been completed, the English painter William Morris was seldom ever seen outside one of the restaurants somewhere in the tower. The staff got to know him quite well and one day one of the waiters commented to him:
'You're obviously impressed with the tower, monsieur.'
'Impressed?' asked Morris. 'The only reason I'm in here is that it's the one place in Paris where I can avoid seeing this damned thing.'
